Kitchen Hack: Savory Burger Patties
If you are like me, carbs not only do not agree with your belly, they make it bigger too. In no way do I have celiac disease nor do I have a gluten intolerance but my digestive system thanks me when I do not eat big and fluffy loafs of bread. I usually do not really miss bread unless I am having a juicy burger. I tend to make the burger and all the fixins without the bun. It is good but I wanted to step it up a notch.
One of my favorite Food Network stars is Sandra Lee. I love that she makes meals that are half store bought products and half fresh ingredients. To me, she has a realistic take on cooking at home. I quickly became a fan in my early twenties and have been so ever since.
This brings me to the hack I learned from the lovely Sandra Lee. If you want a yummy and savory burger, you can kick up your burger patty a notch by simply adding some powdered Au Jus mix to your ground beef. Add half of the packet for every one pound of ground beef or turkey. Mix the powder in well and form your patties. Grill or pan fry as you usually would. You will not be disappointed!
Note: Do not fully make the Au Jus, just use the powder straight out of the packet.
