Dining Room vs. Movie Room
I feel like I can relate every life situation to an episode of FRIENDS. I know I sound a bit old when I talk about FRIENDS all the time, but I can't help it. That show is a classic! Well, there was an episode when Chandler and Monica decided to move in together and they talk about what they will do with the spare room. My husband and I had a similar conversation regarding our front living room. She wants a beautiful guest room, he wants a game room. I wanted a beautiful dining room, he wanted a theater room. The battle of the room continued for months!! I had visions of hosting Thanksgiving dinner...he had visions of high definition movies and speakers. After many debates I came to the conclusion that we would probably use a movie room way more than a dining room. So one day after dinner I said 'we better get to Lowes before they close so we can get started on the movie room'. He just about fell over in shock! At the time, I had no idea what I was getting myself into!
I really do love this room, but yes, I gave up my formal living room to my husband and his ever changing hobby. The room doesn't look this clean very often. He changes his components all the time, upgrades his speakers and there is currently no room for walking behind the seats because his subwoofers are currently the size of a washer and dryer. Sometimes I just have to close my eyes when I walk in there. But as soon as the movie starts I am quickly reminded how much I love that room! We have hosted a few Super bowl parties in there as well as a few Bachelorette Finale viewing parties!! I love watching the season finale of all my favorite shows on the big screen.
We have so much fun with our movie room. Not only do we have the biggest screen in town we can shake the house and give everyone a movie going experience they will never forget! Joe should get an award for the best movie room without spending a fortune. One of the many reasons I love my husband is his amazing ability to get a good deal. Everything in this room was a steal! He is also great at selling his old stuff before he buys any new stuff. He built the screen and we custom made the black velvet curtains. This room is better than I ever imagined!
And to be fair, he did buy me a new dining table for the kitchen. It's a great set that has 8 chairs and a leaf for that one time a year we host family dinner. We both got what we wanted in the end ;)
