Monster Party!
I love monsters. It's so fun to make them look as silly as possible! When my kids are born I usually plan their first birthday party theme a few days after they are born. Crazy, I know. I just love planning parties!! So, needless to say I had this monster theme planned for almost a full year! I scoured the Internet for months to find the perfect ideas for my little monster. It's funny that I picked this theme because Wes ended up being a little monster his first few months of life. And by few, I mean 9!!!!!!! He was my fussy, colicky and most difficult baby. He had tummy trouble and there was nothing I could do about it. I cut everything out of my diet and that was the only thing that helped him. But it was hard on me!!! (More on that in my upcoming feeding your baby 101 post!). So once we made it to the one year mark we had a lot to celebrate! This was the dessert table and it was so much fun!! I made cookies to take home and an adorable monster smash cake. I had monster suckers for the kids and blowers to play with at the party. I also made those yummy pretzel chocolate bites you see all over pinterest. They were so easy and a perfect sweet treat for anyone that didn't want cake or cookies.
Here is a close up of the cookies. I am so proud of these! I designed them all on my own. They do not sell monster cookie cutters. So, I took a gingerbread man and made him short and fat and I took a bell and cut off the little bell part on the bottom and wa-lah! Adorable monsters!!! I love their eyes and little party hats. My cousin helped me cut everything out. I will talk more about my cousin Sherylee in my posts, she is the best ever.
I found this idea on-line. I love his orange hair to match my birthday boys orange hair. This is one of my favorite cakes ever!
The idea I had for the food is still one of my best party ideas, in my opinion. I had a hot dog bar with all the fixins'. I even came up with fun names for different ideas of hot dog creations. My son's initials are JWB so I thought this J.W.iener Dog was so cleaver! And it was delicious...as you can see :)
I had every topping imaginable and all the fun ideas on the side. Everything was labeled and had cute monster eyes all over the platter. Everyone was raving about how delicious their hot dog was. I love this idea and it was so easy!!
I'm sure you know of a little monster in your life that deserves this fun party!!!
