Sugar Cookies!

I am a HUGE dessert lover. Anything sweet has my name all over it!! People always ask what my favorite dessert is and for the longest time, I didn't really know. I love them all!! I love fresh strawberry pie, cake, brownies, etc but I never had a clear favorite. But after having kids I have realized there is a front runner.....I love Sugar Cookies!!!! Whenever we make them for Easter, Halloween or Christmas I can't stop eating them. Cookies have taken the lead in the dessert category and once you try these....they might become a new favorite for you too!!

Since the holidays are approaching I thought I would share this recipe that I got from my sister Carla. It is the only recipe I will use now!! Try it out and have some fun decorating these delicious cookies with your kids. They also make great gifts!! This is the only sugar cookie recipe I have found that keeps the exact shape you cut out. Look at these adorable donut cookies I made for my daughters birthday party favor. They looked great and tasted amazing. Try it out and see what you think!!

Delicious Sugar Cookie Recipe

1 lb. butter (soft) --don't use margarine 2 cups sugar 3 eggs 1 tsp vanilla 1 tsp almond extract 1 tsp baking powder 1/4 tsp salt 6 cups flour *cream sugar and butter *add eggs, vanilla, and almond extract----mix *add baking powder, salt, and flour-----mix *chill for 2 hours or more *roll to 1/4 inch thick *bake 375 degrees for 8 minutes For the frosting, I always use the Wilton Royal Icing recipe found on their website. That is the best frosting ever for decorating. I even add a little almond extract to that recipe for a better flavor.

If you want just a yummy recipe for cookies you will eat right away...try this one! I kind of just eye ball this.....I have no recipe.....but this is my best guess! 2 TBS butter 1 TBS cream cheese 1 TBS milk 2 cups powdered sugar Just play with it a bit until its the right consistency for spreading on the cookies.....just be careful with the milk........add a teeny tiny bit at a time!

I love this picture of my future decorator :) She is the best!
